This fancy coloured diamond engagement ring features an extremely rare, natural orange diamond with an octagonal ring of colourless diamonds surrounding it, set atop an 18ct rose gold straight band. 

Orange diamonds are exceptionally rare because of the high amounts of nitrogen concentration needed to produce. Additionally, there must be a defect in the crystal lattice. This is what separates yellow diamonds from the orange ones. Trace amounts of nitrogen is also what causes yellow or brown tints in colourless diamonds too. 

Orange diamond engagement rings can come in a variety of colour blends and shades. Yellowish orange, pinkish orange, brownish orange, and rare purplish orange can all be hues of fancy orange diamonds. However, a pure orange diamond is the rarest, the most valuable, and the most expensive of the different shades. 

Perhaps the most famous orange diamond is the Pumpkin Diamond. The Pumpkin Diamond is a 5.54 carat Fancy Vivid Orange diamond. It is exceptionally rare for its size and came from the Premier Mine in South Africa. The stunning orangey brown diamond was sold at auction for 1 million GBP (1.3 million USD) in 1997.
