Ruby and diamond ring remodelled with old setting used as a liner.

Our customer supplied a ring with sentimental value which she wanted to change from yellow gold to white metal (Palladium). She also wanted a change from a traditional claw setting to a more contemporary rubover setting. We melted the original gold setting & made a gold ‘liner’ for the new ring. This gold is there purely for sentimental reasons & cannot be seen unless the ring is removed.

When we work on jewellery remodelling in many cases our customers supply just the gemstones, other times the metal and the gemstones that are brought to us. We can supply you with any additional materials if it’s needed. This can be both gemstones or precious metals.

As a rule, we can melt & reuse yellow gold but white metals (like Platinum, Palladium & white gold) are prone to cracking when reworked. Bearing this in mind, & if the customer does not want the old setting returned to them, the old white metal settings can be used as part payment instead of being melted & used.
