As Super Bowl LVIII (58) comes to an end the Kansa City Chiefs reign victorious & get to show off their new Super Bowl rings. So what are these blingy rings all about? Well there’s a tradition in the U.S. to celegrate significant milestones with a ring. This might be a professional sports team winning a championship, a military student completing their training or a college student graduating.

This style of rings is known has various names. They are know as; ”Grad rings” “College rings” & “Graduation rings”.

What do the symbols & logos on college rings represent?

Well the symbolism varies. There is usually a prominent year which refers to the year of graduation. The centre of the ring is usually set with a gemstone sometimes even the gem itself is adorned. The university name is another common feature.

Although sometimes made from Silver college rings are very popular in gold. As college rings are of American origin the carat of gold used is linked to this. In the U.S. 10 carat & 14ct gold are used. This is different to the more popular 9ct & 18ct used in the U.K.
