Wax carving for lost wax casting

Wax carving for lost wax casting.

This image showcases one of the techniques we use when making jewellery. Often we will create a wax master by either hand carving it (as in these images) or by 3D printing from a CAD model. A silicone mould is then made around the wax model. Finally molten metal is poured into the mould. This melts the wax away hence the term ‘lost wax casting’ & the metal replaces the wax in the cavity.

Top let – Penguin wax master next to the finished silver cufflinks with black rhodium detailing.

Middle left – Roe deer wax master next to the finished silver cufflinks.

Bottom left – Howling Chimpanzee wax master next to the finished silver cufflinks.

Top right – An Orchid that the customer brought in for us to copy. This is above the Orchid wax model & the finished silver ring.
