This halo engagement ring features a radiant cut natural fancy yellow diamond secured by 18ct yellow gold claws. The yellow diamond centre is surrounded by a milgrain halo of colourless round diamonds. The ring band has similar round diamonds set in the milgrain band. 

The fancy yellow diamond in this ring is natural, meaning that nature left enough nitrogen impurities in the crystal structure to saturate the diamond with a yellow shade. Yellow diamonds are often called canary diamonds, though gemologists argue that only yellow diamonds with high intensities should be considered a true canary diamond. 

Natural fancy coloured diamonds are rare, but fancy yellow diamonds are more affordable than other colours. They are not the same as yellow tinted colourless diamonds on the D-Z colour grading scale.

The radiant cut diamond shape originated in the 1970s as a cross that retained the shape of an emerald cut diamond with the brilliant faceting technique in a round brilliant diamond. Radiant cut shapes are especially suited for coloured diamonds because of their wide surface area and the way they reveal colour in their shape. 

Light yellow diamonds put in yellow gold engagement rings are said to look colour enhanced because of the yellow metal. Many people opt for yellow gold settings for warm diamond colours.
