At RING jewellers we use special alloys within our white gold so it does not need ‘rhodium plating’. Most other shops use a yellowy colour of white gold & this is why it is plated. When the rhodium plating starts to wear of the patchy finish can be very disappointing & the ring needs constant maintenance. The customer who had this ring remodelled had this problem & wanted to change the metal from white gold to Platinum to give a naturally whiter finish without the need to re-plate the ring. At the same time they used the remodel as an excuse for a more classic engagement ring design.
