You may have a family heirloom that you want to learn more about. A qualified gemologist can perform a range of tests to tell you the type & quality of gemstones in the jewellery. They may also be able to tell you if the gemstones are natural, synthetic or treated. When customers think of lab grown gemstones they think of this as a new concept. Did you know though that synthetic Sapphires for example have been produced since 1873 so the assumption of “It’s old so it must be real” is not always the case!
