“Love Story” inspired by Taylor Swift’s engagement ring

I thought the design was beautiful. A large Diamond but nothing crass. The shoulder detailing helped to blend the Gold setting with the stone. This avoided the huge rock stuck on a wedding ring look that was very much on trend at the time when Travis Kelce proposed. 

I decided that there was space in the engagement ring window of RING jewellers for an eye-catching piece like this. I didn’t want to copy Taylor Swift’s ring though. As well as not being able to afford the legal fees I thought there were elements that could work even better if they were designed differently.

I chose to make our version (named “Love Story” as a Taylor Swift homage) from 18ct Gold. The centre stone was a 3ct elongated cushion cut Diamond. The ring is set with trillion cut shoulder stones which are echoed by the Art Deco style triangular repeat pattern. A delicate horizon line continues from the tip of the shoulder detailing which ends with a tiny, flush set round brilliant cut Diamond. In Taylor Swift’s engagement ring the shoulders are engraved but we preferred this stepped triangular detailing as it serves to gradually lift the shank to elegantly meet the centre stone as well as looking stunning!
