“The rising popularity of Lab grown diamonds”

Laboratory grown diamonds have become incredibly popular in recent years. One of the main reasons for this is their more eco-friendly origins. All the carbon used to create a lab-grown diamond is recycled, whereas natural diamonds result in a large carbon footprint. Additionally, laboratory grown diamonds are more affordable than their natural counterparts. Quality has also improved in recent years, making them a more viable option for many shoppers. Lab-grown diamonds are ethically sound as well – no blood diamonds here!

This blog discusses the reasons why Lab grown Diamonds are a greener alternative to natural, mined Diamonds.

Lab-grown diamonds have been increasing in popularity for a few reasons. Firstly, they are more affordable than natural diamonds. You can usually find laboratory grown diamonds selling for at least 50% less than natural diamonds of the same quality. With larger stones the savings can be even greater! This is because the process of growing a diamond in a lab is becoming increasingly efficient and scalable.

The negative ecological problems associated with natural mined diamonds are numerous. The carbon footprint of diamond mining is large. Diamonds are often found in remote areas, and the process of extracting them from the ground can be damaging to the environment. Mining can cause erosion and destabilize whole hillsides ruining the natural habitat of many animals. Diamond mining often takes place in countries with weak environmental regulations, and so the negative effects can impact hugely.

Lab-grown diamonds are practically identical to natural mined diamonds. They have the same chemical and physical properties. A big turning point of Lab grown stones was a high profile court case where the natural Diamond councils fought to ban the use of the term “Diamond” when it comes to lab grown stones. They actually lost the case with the conclusion being they are chemically identical & therefore they can be called Diamonds.

Lab grown diamonds come in all shapes and sizes, just like natural diamonds. There is a vast array of Lab grown diamond jewellery to choose from – engagement rings, wedding bands, earrings, necklaces and more. You can find Lab grown diamonds in all different fancy colours too, including yellow, pink, blue and green.
